This is an approved Australian Resuscitation Council Advanced Life Support provider course
The Australia Resuscitation Council has developed an Advanced Life Support (ALS) provider course based on ARC guidelines.
The ALS course teaches the theory and the practical skills required to prevent the early stages of cardiopulmonary arrest in adults.
The ALS course provides a standardised approach to cardiopulmonary resuscitation in adults.
The multidisciplinary nature of the course encourages efficient teamwork. By training together,
all ALS providers are given the opportunity to gain experience as both resuscitation team members and team leaders.
The ALS provider course lasts two days and is very intensive.
The ARC ALS manual will be issued to the participants one month before the course, together with pre-course multiple choice question papers.
Intermediate Life Support is a 1 day course designed to give the candidate the skills
for managing a cardiac arrest or other medical emergencies in a clinical setting.
The course covers recognition of the critically ill patient, airway management, resuscitation procedures, defibrillation and basic drug therapy.
Places are limited to 24 students.
